Accents and flowers are great in gardens. However, you can do so much more in order to further improve on its design and beauty. Garden accents can be used to enhance the look of your garden, and it could also serve as the focal point or centerpiece in certain areas. There are many ways as to which garden accents can be used, and various materials can be utilized to make it so. Truly, all accents are limited only by your creativity, and here are a few simple ones that you can build on your own.

Working with Stones
Stone edgings can help define the border between your garden and your lawn, and it can also help define the difference between areas that can be walked upon and not. Stone can come in a variety of different designs and are both easily accessible and cheap, and you can lay them out on the ground either side by side or with gaps in between, depending on your personal taste. Stones can also be used to build statues and can serve as the sidings and base of ponds and fountains. Stoneworkers can fashion stone garden accents based on your liking, although natural stones may also be used.

Wood is a wonderful material to use when accenting your garden. It can be used in a variety of different ways such as low fencing, little bridges across ponds or streams, and many more. Little pieces of wood can also help protect and segregate nurslings. Those with woodworking skills may also create archways, benches, and gazebos where people can sit around and marvel at the beauty of your garden. However, wood accents must not melt into the environment, so proper color and pattern distinction is a must so that they would be able to pop out. It is also important to treat wood with varnish and give it a proper finish so that it would be more resistant to the elements. Wood is one of the best materials to use as it gives your garden that additional earthy vibe.

Chimes give off a very relaxing tune, which is great especially if you want to just lounge around in your garden and unwind. Birdhouses and bird baths are also highly recommended, and you can do this on your own with just a few tools. Lastly, ornaments like little gnomes can be placed all around to add whimsy into your garden. Just make sure that your ornaments are not tasteless and that they would not make the area tacky.

Garden accents are a great way to add even more centerpieces into your blooming garden. They should be able to complement greatly with your blooms, and it would reflect the hard work and dedication that you’ve put in so that your garden would be even more charming and picturesque. Consult with your local gardener or landscaper on what type of garden accents would suit best for you, and you too would be able to own a garden that will not be out of place in landscaping and homeowner magazines.
